Feng Shui Line
"Status Jar" w/Glass Lid

Feng Shui is an art of living in harmony and balance with our environment; though its origin dates back 3000 years, all its principles still hold today. The whole universe is constituted with matter and energy. In Feng Shui, energy is called Chi and matter is divided into five unique elements. The study of Feng Shui deals specifically with how Chi flows through the matter and how that Chi affects people.

When this invisible energy is blocked or distorted by undesirable things in the environment, Shar Chi (or negative energy) is created. Use of Feng Shui can counteract this negative Chi, providing you a means to unblock Chi and open yourself up to receive good fortune and harmony in your home, office or business.

Feng Shui simply means “wind” and “water” and together the words represent harmony and balance. This ancient art is based on the flow of energy or “chi” through the universe and its influence on our daily lives. The practice was first established over 6,000 years ago and is related to subjects of nature such as physics, philosophy, astronomy and astrology.

Earth gives stability and also relates to real estate and legacies. Earth is patient, just, honest and methodical. However, it can also be smothering and demanding. Earth represents the colour yellow, the center and the teenage years.

Fire gives energy and enthusiasm, but can also be a sign of danger. When too much fire is present, it can be destructive. Fire warms and cheers, but it can also burn and destroy. FiIre is the element of the natural leader. Fire represents red, summer and south. Fire represents the growing years before puberty

Metal (also frequently referred to as "gold") indicates harvest, business and success. This is usually financial success. On the negative side, metal can also indicate a sword or a knife and be destructive and violent. The color is usually white, but can also be gold. It symbolizes autumn and west. Metal represents the adult years.

Water indicates travel, communication, and learning. It also relates to literature, the arts, and the media. Water can be both gentle (soft rainfall) and violent (a hurricane). Water nourishes all living things, but can also gradually wear away the hardest rock. It represents the color black, winter, and north. Water represents the final years, old age.

Wood Energy represents growth, development, and planning; Wood as an element is considered important because it is both strong and bendable it symbolizes anger as well as depression. It’s said to come from the eastern direction. Wood regenerates each spring when the trees and plants send out new growth. It’s associated with blue-green color spectrum and the columnar shape.

Wood is also associated with beginning of new life.
